Programs & Initiatives

From the Classroom
to the Council Chamber.

VOICE runs structured, nonpartisan programs that turn civic interest into civic leadership — for adults, youth, and aspiring public servants at every stage of engagement.

Civic Readiness Series

The Civic Readiness Series is VOICE's flagship adult education program — practical, nonpartisan instruction on how local government works and how community members can engage constructively in public life in North America.

This series provides education on local governance so that community members can engage through public meetings, advisory bodies, advocacy, or public service roles. Open to all adults at every stage of civic engagement, from first-time participants to those considering formal leadership roles.

  • The structure and functions of North America government
  • Roles and responsibilities of Boards & Commissions, Board of Education, and County Council
  • How to engage effectively through public comment, testimony, and civic dialogue
  • Ethical standards, nonpartisanship, and public trust in civic participation
  • Pathways to service and leadership within local institutions
